I struggle with this a lot too, especially since I like my independence, but I also like having someone else in control. For some, having a long distance keyholder works with constant check ins. Some use a lock box that can be locked remotely. I just do my best to be honest and stay locked and do check ins when someone is in charge of my lock up for a while.
